8th and 9th Gold Coins Donated to Salvation Army
Mysterious Donor Sends In Two More Gold Coins
(Fort Myers, FL) The Salvation Army makes yet another amazing discovery. Not one, but two more gold coins were discovered today. The two 1976 South African Krugerrands were sent in a manila envelope along with a note that in part urges people to lend a hand to others. The postmark was dated December 30th and they were simply addressed to Major Tom Louden. That brings the total of gold coins donated to nine. The Salvation Army has never heard of that many gold coins being donated in one location during the holiday season anywhere else in the country.
Seven other gold coins have already been discovered in Lee County kettles this holiday season. Each is valued at $1,400-$1,600 dollars. They will be auctioned off sometime later this month. Based on handwriting on notes coins were wrapped in, The Salvation Army believes many of the coins, including the latest two….may have been come from the same donor. The identity of all the gold coin donors remains a mystery.
